There are two methods of clearance - pedestrian and mechanical.
The method used depends on the size of the area and accessibility of mechanical equipment.
Pedestrian snow clearance
Areas like pavements, footpaths and pedestrian routes to/from car parks and around buildings are described as ‘pedestrian snow clearance’ and these areas are cleared manually.
> Keeping key pedestrian pathways and other pedestrianised areas, including fire escapes, free of snow is paramount for health and safety.
On clearance, grit is applied to the area keeping it slip-free. Using our weather forecasting tool. we will come to your site when 2cm of snow or more has been recorded in your area.
Mechanical snow clearance
For larger areas such as access roads, service areas and car parks, are usually
accessible by machinery, so mechanical snow clearance is used.
Our fleet of equipment includes JCB’s and snow ploughs, which are usually mounted on 4x4’s or quad bikes and require a larger access area.
Our snowploughs are deployed when 5cm or more of snow is forecast to fall between the hours of midday and 6.00am. The service can be used to clear delivery areas. service access roads and a third of the parking area in car parks.
We shall confirm with you after our initial site visit what equipment will be best suited for your site.
